The grocery store is a great hang-out

When you meet a friend in the grocery store, you say, “hello” and share a smile. If you’re lucky, you’ll chat a while and catch up on each other’s lives. If you’re REALLY lucky, you’ll make a lunch date or coffee date or even a dinner date. Before you head your separate ways, down the cereal aisle, sneak a peek inside their trolley for a dinner-dilemma solution. I was SO lucky today: I met a friend for a fruit smoothie before our food shopping!

The grocery store is a special place: it’s not just for food anymore; it’s where we meet and hang out.

To India sans airplane

Mark and I enjoyed a leisurely morning on the beach before heading to Dubai for the rest of the day. We walked around Dubai Mall, mixing in with all the crowds, there for their own Eid holiday outing. Then we went to the India Club, sandwiched between the Pakistan Club, the Iranian Club, and the Egyptian Club, near the beautiful Diera creek.

We were greeted with smiles, hugs and even a personal introduction to the crowd! When we stood up to the applause, I felt like a celebrity! Our gracious, generous and gorgeous hostess, Geeta, made us feel so special.

Then the big event: the physic entertainer, Mr. B (

I was fortunate to be on the receiving end of his “smiley ball” which  was the golden ticket to go up on stage. Another audience member, Milas,  and I were given our instructions.  We complied and Mr. B. stunned us all! Mr. B wrote on a separate piece of paper the word my co-helper had chosen from the 500 pages of the book I held. How’d he do that!? Mr. B did other great “tricks” using his brain and really WOWed the audience.

Do you love magical days?

Another NDB in the works

One of life’s joys (in my opinion) is doing things I’ve never done before (NDB). I like to explore, learn and do as much as I can while on this Earth. This weekend, I added a new NDB to my repertoire ~ I took one of several kite surfing lessons. Yes, it’s been a “bucket list” / “vision board” / “manifestation map” entry for some time and the opportunity presented itself and I took it!

We drove out with some dear friends (one of my high school friends actually); and as we drove off the paved street onto the sand and over a narrow bridge, my heart started racing with excitement.

After inflating the kite, learning about the harness,  emergency release, steering and the “power zone”, I got in the water with my instructor to practice. It was great fun and only the tip of the proverbial wave because I didn’t get on the board yet.

Stay tuned…the NDB is incomplete.

P.S. Keep your “vision boards”/ “manifestation maps” up-to-date so you don’t miss any opportunities for FUN!

Soul-ful yoga at sunset

As the sun sets over the Presidential Palace, I feel warmth and see beauty. I’ve completed my first week teaching yoga on the beach.  Chalk up another NDB*, a goal, and an entry on my manifestation map (vision board.) I’m delighted with how the first week evolved.

My heart and soul are full.

I even worked on my own postures before and after classes, revisiting my practice that I loved so much in So. Cal and Honolulu.

Tip for today: find what feels good in your own life and in your day. Find what makes you feel soulful and do that!

What is the soundtrack of YOUR life?

First track for me: Black Eyed Peas: “I’ve got a feeling.” Next: build up to heart-pumping “Eye of the Tiger.”

Heart pumper: “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO followed by Taio Cruz “Dynamite” and “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.

Then I belt out “Club can’t even handle me Me” by Flo Rida and “Fireball” by Pitbull.

By now I’m singing and can hardly stop smiling.

To finish out my soundtrack, I am “Walking on sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves.

Things happen in life for a reason. Music adds an element to life that nothing else can.  What’s the soundtrack to your life? Go out and have an amazing, musical, life changing day! YOU deserve it.

Have you enjoyed the day?

As the weather cools down, here in Abu Dhabi, there is more activity outside to enjoy. I tied up my trainers, grabbed a cold water and my tunes and headed outside.

The smell of plumeria tickled my nose and the warm sun kissed my face. I set the tunes to shuffle and off I went.

So much to see, smell, and take in. I even caught myself running along the newly varnished boardwalk.

Have you enjoyed your day?

Denise’s daily menu:

Today’s Tips:

  1. Have FUN everyday.
  2. Enjoy the people around you.
  3. Laugh, from the belly, loud & proud!

Wake up with a smile. Be grateful. Move your body. Life life to the fullest!

I had so much fun with my Sand Sisters last night ~ we got together to share food and laughs and stories. I am so blessed those women are in my life. I will always remember our journey in the desert and the friendships that came out of it.
