Happy May Day; Happy Lei Day!

On May 1 each year, Hawaiians celebrate “Lei Day,” first conceived in 1927 by poet Don Blanding. At the time, Blanding was employed by the Honolulu Star Bulletin, and he shared his idea with columnistGrace Tower Warren, who came up the phrase, “May Day is Lei Day”. The Hawaiian song, “May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii” was composed in 1927 by Ruth and Leonard “Red” Hawk. (wiki)

From the year 305 to 2011, important historical events have occurred on May 1. (wiki)

Many Mother’s Day celebrations around the world are on this day.

I like to celebrate it as another great month in my amazing year! (NDS)

I hope you enjoy it too.

Aloha,

Denise
