I hear the gentle call to prayer at 5:37am. It’s broadcast all over the city and it beckons attention, purity of heart and commitment. I love the sound, the meaning and the accountability. Worshippers remove their shoes and enter their mosques. I answer the call with a personal reply from our hotel room: “Thank you, God, for everything. I will share my gratitude and grateful attitude.”
This gentle call repeats five times a day until sunset.
